Acorn Award Scholarship

Scholarship Overview:

VCNB wishes to recognize local high school seniors in our market area (OHHS) who possess our bank’s core values. Students will be evaluated on the VCNB values of Integrity, Leadership, Progress, Relationships, and Community.  Each December and April, one student from each local school with eligible entries will be featured on our social media and eligible for a prize ($500 Visa Gift Card) based on social media followers’ participation.  A final overall scholarship winner will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the pool of monthly featured students. This decision will be made by a panel of VCNB employee judges and announced in May 2025.

Eligibility:

Current high school seniors who live in or attend high school in one of the following counties; Fairfield, Franklin, Hocking, Jackson, Licking, Pickaway, Ross, and Vinton.  Homeschool seniors are eligible if they reside in the aforementioned counties.

You do not need to be a VCNB account holder to be eligible.  Winning students are responsible for tax implications for prize money awarded. Entries must be received by November 15 or March 15 to be eligible for the corresponding semester contest. All eligible applications received between September 1, 2024 and March 15, 2025 will be considered for the $5,000 scholarship. 

An eligible entry is one in which a fully answered application is received within the stated time frames by a high school senior in the VCNB eight county market area.

Only one application will be accepted per applicant regardless of when the application is submitted. Applicants will only be eligible for social media prize within the semester they apply but all applicants will be eligible for overall scholarship.

2024 Buckeye Hills Career Center Adult Education Tuition Credits

For New High School Graduates!

Save up to $1,000!

Tuition credit up to $1,000 may be granted to graduates from the Oak Hill Union, Gallipolis City, Gallia County, Jackson City, Vinton County, Wellston City School Districts, Christian Life Academy, Ohio Valley Christian School, and Buckeye Hills Career Center GED graduates upon enrollment in an Adult Center program within 12 months of receiving their diploma. This offer is limited to one program per person. 

The application fee will be waived up to 12 months for current High School graduates of any Buckeye Hills Career Center programs, including Buckeye Hills Career Center satellite programs and Buckeye Hills Career Center GED graduates. This offer is limited to one registration fee per person.

*Tuition credit amounts will be pro-rated over the payment periods of the enrolled program. 

  • $1,000 - Cosmetology/Practical Nursing/Surgical Technology
  • $800 - Power Lineman w/ CDL Class A Unrestricted/Telecommunications
  • $700 - Industrial Maintenance w/ Hydraulics & Pneumatics
  • $600 - Welding
  • $300 - Heavy Equipment Operator
  • $200 - Broadband Infrastructure Training/Phlebotomy
  • $100 - Certified Nursing Assistant

OU College of Education Scholarship

Ohio University College of Education Scholarship - The Ronald D. and Joan Riddle Giles Scholarship

Guidelines:

  • Recipients must be attending the Ohio University-Athens campus as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled in or accepted for admission to the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education. 
  • Students must also demonstrate financial need based on federal aid standards, as determined by the University's Financial Aid Office. 
  • Students must have permanent residency in Allegheny County, PA, or one of the fourteen Ohio counties:  Adams, Athens, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton, and Washington.
